ThunderCon 6 Flyers

ThunderCon 6 was May 31-June 1-2, 1996.

As everybody knows, ThunderCon was established by "ThunderChief" Larry Nemecek, antipodally in summer, to balance SoonerCon.

That is, ThunderCon, aka "Larry's media con," was a mass-sci-fi-media gathering, in contrast to SoonerCon's intents as a "litcon."

Above is the legal-sized flyer.  Yeah, our guest was Ethan Phillips of Star Trek: Voyager and many other enterprises.

This here is our letter-sized flyer.

PS to see Ethan Phillips THIS year, come to Soonercon 33!

See ya in the ethereal beyond, fellow space cadets!

ThunderCon 7 Flyers!

ThunderCon 7 was May 30-31-June 1, 1997.
Here's the first flyer, which was one-sided.

The second flyer.  By now Biggs was confirmed, and Richard Hatch added to the roster.

Above is the third version of a ThunderCon 7 flyer.

And here is the fourth version of a ThunderCon 7 flyer.

Is four flyers a record for one con?  Probably not!  See ya next time.

ThunderCon 2 in '92!

Sounds like a great campaign slogan, eh?

Above are the front and back of the only flyer I have.  (Some other TCons had more than one version of the flyer.)
And above is Scooter's badge.

Here's the pocket program.

What are your memories of ThunderCon 2?

M.A.G.I.C. Piglets from 1991

Somebody roamed the halls and lurked through some parties at ThunderCon 1 and reaped a bunch of comments that sound pretty silly when quoted out of context.

They probably sounded even sillier IN context!  (As you should know, ThunderCon 1 was held May 31-June 1-2, 1991 at the glitzy Central Plaza Hotel in OKC.)

Don't forget to investigate the topic "ThunderCon" for more fun facts about LMC!

The Rest of ThunderCon 1's Program Book!

As you'll recall, ThunderCon 1 (Larry's Media Con) was held May 31, June 1-2, 1991.

The Quantum Leap zine was worked on by our still-current SoonerCon guest/panelist Julie Barrett.
Seems to me that what was called IFGS in 1992 is known nowadays as LARPing!

I can assure you that the above ad has expired.

Above is the inside rear cover.
This is the back cover of the Program Book.  Yes, ThunderCon 2 roared down the Okie plains the next year.  You'll have to wait awhile to see what happened then ...

Thanks for stopping by!

The First Half of ThunderCon 1 (1991) Program Book

 Spiffy art by Kevin Hopkins.

Also known as "Larry's Media Con," ThunderCon was established as a balance to SoonerCon, which was a "lit con," by design, at the time.

Boy, wasn't he skinny in 1991?!  Weren't you?

And by the way, Serendipity, the club whose ad is above, is still alive and thrilling!

Fun for all!

The January 1991 GALACTIC GAZETTE

On page 2 you can read the officers for 1991.  There's lots of coverage of the upcoming ThunderCon 1.

The "ThunderPage" logo at the top of the page was my own device ...

The poor contrast of some images is acknowledged, but that's all we got!  PS yes, that's Gerald "Captain Coconut" Burton making a cameo appearance in the cartoon on the last page.

See ya round the galaxy!
