The wild bacchanal was held at the apartment of Larry and Zann Jones.

This year Joyce and I moonlighted as Mr and Mrs Santa for parties, and came here directly after a gig. The above photo reflects the surprise of Zann, Larry, and Mike on being confronted by two Clauses in red.
Our best to all whose orbits intersected ours -- in 1980, and into the 21st century and beyond!
Begun in March 1973 as a part of the national Star Trek Association for Revival, STAR OKC was central Oklahoma's most influential seedbed of fandom through 2005. ..... This blog exists to document fandom in central Oklahoma. The area was home to PsurrealCon/PseudoCon, ThunderCon, and Soonercon (née SoonerCon) -- all begun or supported by members of STAR OKC.

SoonerCon 2006 Program Book -- The Rest
The concluding pages of the first Program Book of the reformed SoonerCon.
Bibliotech Books, in Shawnee, has been a faithful advertiser with us since 2006! Also, note the appearance of SoonerCon's original mascot, the dino/dragon named Boomer.
Above is a better view of our little friend.
Feel free to print out this crossword and solve it yourself.
The scheduling grid is very down-n-dirty, complete with pasted-in "x"s to denote closed rooms.
While it was fun to dummy up the above ad, the actual art by Artist GOH Keith Birdsong is super-spiffalicious. You will see it in posts to come.
Thanks for stopping by. See you at SoonerCon 28, just over a month from now!

SoonerCon 2006 Program Book -- The Middle
Here are pages 9 through 19 of Sooner Con 2006's Program Book. This re-establishment of the grand name took place July 15-16, at the Bricktown Central Plaza.
Yes, every guest who provided a photo had it printed!
Bradley H. and Sue Sinor continue to be gracious guests at SoonerCon.
Powerlift has been an advertiser since the re-beginning.
Ditto the Friends of NRA.
We had a fine lineup of guests, especially considering that this fledgling con was a first step, with no previous cred except the name, which had been inactive since SoonerCon 13, 1997.
Next time, the rest of the Program Book.

SoonerCon 2006 Program Book - beginning
The first renewed SoonerCon took place on Saturday-Sunday, July 15-16, 2006, at the Bricktown Central Plaza.
And as you can see from the copyright slug, the "parent group" of the new SoonerCon was "the SoonerCon Syndicate." This comprised yours truly, Con Chair Jerry Wall, and Michelle Wilson.
The "Illegal Substances" section of our policies may be the first appearance of the simple advice, "Don't do it if it's against the law." After all, SoonerCon isn't a convention for Civil Disobedients … although our clientele may overlap from time to time ...
As you can see, we also have more fine "filler art" from Kevin Hopkins.
Here endeth the first eight pages from the resurrected SoonerCon. Without the hard work of the folks listed in the ConComm credits, the glorious present reality would not be here.
Thanks for stopping by, friends, and observing the fruit of your correspondent's obsessiveness!
Our cover art, a fine evocation of our theme (suggested by your humble correspondent), was earlier seen on page 26 of the SoonerCon 4 Program Book, in 1988. It's by the always-Okie Kevin Hopkins.
